about

Leslie Heng is a self-taught photographer whose interest for photography was sparked by the Instagram revolution.

Based in Singapore, a country known for its ultra modern architecture, his works are focused on buildings and spaces with strong architectural elements like lines, symmetry, and colours.

Leslie grew up with an affinity for the arts but only picked up the camera in 2014. When he was younger, he always enjoyed dabbling around with point and shoot cameras and mobile photography. Despite the lack of exposure to the creative industries, it was Leslie’s determination that bore the fruit when he was selected by Instagram as part their list of suggested users. He became an online sensation with a strong following on Instagram. He decided to take it a step further to produce visual content from his travels and explorations, developing a strong trait for storytelling through his visual works and creatives.

In the past few years, he has gained an impressive catalog of clients including Apple, Montblanc, B&O, The Macallan, ilight Marina Bay, Singapore Tourism Board, and many more.

Leslie has been featured in multiple media articles, including Timeout Singapore, Harper’s Bazaar, Adobe Creates and has worked with Apple as their Today at Apple speaker at their first Apple store in Singapore. He also won the People’s Choice Award for the #whatmakessg photography competition organized by National Geographic & MCI.

He was part of the #NEVERBEFORESG online exhibition which addresses the impact of COVID-19 in Singapore, a commission by National Museum Singapore in conjunction with The Novel Ways of Being initiative by The National Gallery of Singapore and The Singapore Art Museum.

Most recently, he partnered with Leica Camera to craft a photo exhibition titled “The Soul Needs More Space Than The Body”, where he photographed eight individuals in a series of portraits - his portraiture debut to the public. The exhibition ran for one month at the Leica Galerie, Raffles Hotel.
